Cooks Social is a premium holiday accommodation provider located in Cooks Beach, Coromandel, New Zealand.

Any special requests or notes provided by you

3. Payment & Privacy

We only collect the details we need to confirm and manage your booking (name, contact details, stay dates, payment details).
Your payments are processed securely through Stripe, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or POLi – we never store your card details.
All prices are GST inclusive (15%).
Booking records are held for 7 years as required by NZ tax law.
Your privacy matters – we will never share or sell your information.
You’re welcome to ask us to see, update, or delete your data at any time (unless we need it for legal reasons).

4. Identity Verification

Where identification is requested, it is collected solely for the purpose of verifying the identity and age of the primary guest and protecting the security of our property.
Any identification provided is stored securely, accessed only by authorised persons, not shared with third parties, and deleted once verification is complete or after the guest’s stay, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

5. How we use your information

We use your information to:

Confirm and manage your booking

Process payments and send invoices/receipts

Communicate important information about your stay

Meet our legal and accounting obligations (e.g., GST compliance)

Improve our services and guest experience

We will never sell your information to third parties.

6. Data retention

Booking and payment records are kept for 7 years to comply with New Zealand tax and accounting requirements.

Comments, media uploads, and cookies follow the standard WordPress retention policies.

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

Request access to the personal data we hold about you

Ask for corrections or updates to your data

Request deletion of your personal data (unless we must keep it for legal or security reasons)
